Time to detox!

Hi everyone!

Do you also feel so full as me after Christmas? In fact, for many of us Christmas is a time in which we let ourselves deviate from our diet routine and enjoy the flavours that we don’t eat every day. There’s nothing wrong with this but for stomach it can be too much and for sure it will be grateful if you treat yourselves to rest from heavy food. With interesting but controversial method for the mollification of digestive system come the Italians who propose detox using…pasta! :D No kidding! See for yourselves J

The Italians believe that digestive problems can be resolved by eating so called pasta in bianco (white pasta) or simply pasta which doesn’t contain any other ingredients, except for butter or olive oil and a bit of parmesan cheese. Although, the whole doesn’t seem like an easily digested dish, pasta in bianco is also recommended by the medicines and represents a main mail in the diet of the sick people in hospitals. In Italian houses this food is a symbol of healthy eating and has a long tradition, dating back to Medieval times, in which white colour meant purity. That is why, it was a food for a person who wanted to purify himself or feel light. In practice, it’s also a great dish when our fridge is totally empty ;). Now, the question which is arising, is when we add butter and when olive oil. The answer is simpler than we think J. When we are in the North of Italy we use butter, when we are in the South we use always olive oil. Why that is? Probably because the northern Italians don’t have in their region such good olive oil like their neighbours from South. In fact, it’s no secret that the best olives come from places like Lazio or Campania, in which olives have not only an unusual taste but also a smell. The icing on the cake is here a parmesan cheese, that under the influence of heat becomes more creamy and melts in our mouth. At the end, we can improve the flavour by adding a little of salt and pepper. Enjoy your meal! :D

See you next time! J
